Why consider a recruitment career with MadlinHanna Consulting?

by MadlinHanna Consulting Team

In this month’s blog, the team share insights into what they enjoy about recruitment and working at MadlinHanna Consulting. It’s often not a career people have an intent to enter but can lead to interesting opportunities, especially if you find the right kind of team, company and sector. It’s a social career with good earning potential and progression but we hope we can show there is much more to it than that!

Alicia Buckley, Consultant

I don’t think anyone necessarily grows up dreaming of being a headhunter. It’s often a career path that people land on having considered what they want from their role & where their strengths lie. For me personally, the elements of the role I love are the networking and the business advisory work we do. The opportunity to meet lots of people from different walks of life, often with very interesting backgrounds & who are working with the biggest businesses in the world make no 2 days the same.  Hiring can often be the biggest stumbling block for businesses to activate growth or to enhance their success. Consulting clients through tricky periods is incredibly rewarding. When it comes to being at MadlinHanna, we have a very healthy attitude to balancing work and play. We’re often found exploring the newest local lunch spots, drinking cocktails on our sunny roof terrace or playing with whichever office dog decides to visit that day!

Momina Hanan, Associate Consultant

“Recruitment” was a career that I didn’t have much of an insight to, and I think most of us can agree that it comes with some rather interesting connotations. It wasn’t until I took a step back and really thought about what it was that I wanted from my 9-5, and until I met Alicia, Miriam and Warren, that I realised the true potential of what becoming an Associate Consultant would hold. Trust has become a huge part of my everyday; from establishing and nurturing long-lasting relationships through to the complete freedom given to you from day 1 to establish your own desk; it is what has helped me to be seen as a truly respected and trusted voice, both from a client and candidate perspective. As a consultant, you are required to advise on all levels and matters, meaning your voice is heard both in and out of the office whilst also being viewed as an expert due to how embedded we are in the industry. Professionally, my expectations have been met and surpassed but what cannot be taught is the incredible atmosphere that has been created at MadlinHanna Consulting. I know I am incredibly lucky to look forward to sitting with my colleagues on a Monday morning and genuinely having a laugh about anything and everything.

Warren Madlin, Director
Recruitment provides fascinating opportunities. Being able to offer valued advice to leaders in a dynamic industry like corporate affairs and play that role of expert really feels quite good!

For me, without doubt, it’s the team that makes MadlinHanna such a great place to work. I have never known a group of people in a workplace who have each other’s backs so much. I know the team will be there to celebrate the best times and help me forget the annoying times. It’s a lot of fun, and all done whilst totally smashing it performance-wise. It truly feels like we’re all in it together - a colleague’s success is everyone’s success. The ambition of the business is exciting to be around and (I hope) infectious! We are genuinely excited and all contributing to where this business goes.

Miriam Hanna, Director

As with most, recruitment was a career I fell into. I had just finished two years as a sabbatical officer in the University of Westminster Student’s Union and had enjoyed the independence of that role. When I met with a headhunter they said that being in recruitment was like having your own business, I immediately relished the responsibility and the opportunity to work in a role that had people at the heart of it. I could chat for hours and it doesn’t hurt that building relationships is an important part of this job!

The way that we do our work is incredibly important to us. The clients and candidates we work with are at the heart of every decision we make, not arbitrary targets. The goal is to perform at the highest possible level with integrity and our values are essential to achieving that. And the team is utterly brilliant too but we have already covered that!
