Why on Earth Change Jobs Now?
There is no doubt that post-lockdown, candidate confidence is much lower than the dizzy heights of February. The fear of falling victim to ‘last-in first-out’ is front of mind and there is an abundance of caution amongst those being considered for our searches. So, why in your right mind would you switch-it-up in the middle on a global pandemic? Here are the 4 reasons you were looking for.
Risk is lower than ever
The searches we have handled over the past five months have rarely felt more secure. The days of clients putting feelers out prior to sign-off or hiring too far in advance of non-yet-realised new business wins are over. Offers are no longer being made conditional on company growth. The approval process for hires is the most stringent we have ever seen, so by the time you get that call from a headhunter the client couldn’t be more certain that they need to hire someone like you. The viability of every hire has been heavily scrutinised long before we get our hands on the search. Rest assured, if you land the role you can assume your skillset is business-critical and they can’t do without you.
Your competition is too nervous to move
This one is simple enough. Each vacancy has fewer applicants, so you stand a much higher chance of landing that dream position. Now is the best time to apply to those sought after roles at the top agencies and in-house teams knowing that they want to find the best calibre candidate from a smaller pool.
The unknown is now known
The shock impact of lockdown and full-scale WFH is now understood by our clients. We pray the worst is over in the UK, but clients are hiring with the full knowledge of the possibility of a second wave of coronavirus. Contingency plans are built into every hiring strategy and companies simply wouldn’t bring someone into a role that would be at risk if there were to be another lockdown.
There’s rarely a good time to stall your career
It is becoming sadly clear that Covid-19 is here to stay, for now at least. To halt your progression until it has passed will likely become a long-term wait. Our clients are ready to offer the next challenge to the right candidates, so do not hesitate to see if yours is waiting for you.
